Quilting Connects Us

 

We are an inclusive guild of quilt enthusiasts of all skill levels.  We encourage and support the growth of quilting through art, education, and community.  Members share an interest in all things needle, thread and fabric.

 

Our guild promotes fellowship among quilters through sew-ins, field trips, retreats, classes, an annual quilt show and more.  Special interest groups for members include art quilting, paper piecing and wool appliqué, to name a few.  

 

Gig Harbor Quilters is a nonprofit organization and a community provider.  Our sewing supports foster kids, breast cancer patients, premature babies and hospitalized children in the Pierce county area.

Community Involvement Projects 

The guild’s commitment to our community welcomes volunteers throughout the year. Here is a sample of our community giving.

Comfort Quilts

Lap-size quilts (approximately 40”x 60”) are made for breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.Work at home at your pace, using your fabric or a kit provided by  our guild.  ‘Pieces of Love’ is a group that sews together on the first and third Thursday of each month.

Pillowcases for Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital 

Colorful pillowcases of 100% cotton are sewn for patients at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.  Patients are given a pillowcase during hospitalization and to take home. Directions are available for sewing a case with French seams. Choose your own fabrics or sew from kits assembled by the guild.

Quilts for CFSF (Community & Family Services Foundation)

CFSF is a non-profit organization that works with the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) to place children in foster homes. Guild members provide quilts that are given to children throughout WA.  Sew at home, use your fabric or a kit assembled by our guild.

NICU Quilts

Small quilts are donated for preemies at St. Joseph’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

 

Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at Gig Harbor Yacht Club, 8209 Stinson Avenue. Topics range from guest speakers, tips and tricks from members, to show and share.
